Yes, it is true...though, until he collects some $$ for it, I suppose, technically speaking, it ain't "commercial."

I speak, of course, of our own GoP's efforts for All Things Pig which was recently compiled and released.

Here's review I found on Goggle:

"This amazing collection of all the best efforts of the Grateful Dead's Ron McKernan (aka "Pigpen"), recently made the rounds among those in the know to rave reviews. Compiled by a little-known head with a penchant for all things Pig, it represents the best "best of" collection for this lesser known keyboard player for the originator of the San Francisco Sound. Although known for his..."

So where is this compilation and/or whats on it? As a devotee of Pigpen I would like to check it out and compare notes so to speak. Any information would be appreciated Mr Tell.

Checked out some great Pigpen after reading this post that I had not played in awhile, specifically Pigpen with the Beach Boys on 4/27/71 (and Lovelight from that same show.)

Ahh, surf, sand, cars and....Pigpen?? The "I'm Searching" from that show is some funny shit. Pigpen, The Grateful Dead and The Beach Boys. What can be more American than that on the fourth of July?

SD: sadly, I am the mere recipient of this amazing collection. If GoP sees this, he can fill you in with the details. This is an amazing collection, going in chronological order, with just about everything you could want. Built with painstaking care and attention.

I do not have a set list, song list, etc., and thus, must hope that GoP sees this...because he doesn't frequent the site as much as in days gone by, if you don't see a response in the next day or two, my recommendation would be to start a new thread, throwing yourself on his mercy, and if I know my Friend of Pig, you might just get very, very lucky. I would guess he would enjoy both telling you what songs struck his fancy in putting this together, and either telling you how to get ahold of them or even...even...yes, even sending them along.

has anyone been able to get another copy of this? i am currently working on a book about Pig and would love to have a collection such as this to help me with some of the inspiration, rather than me always chasing it own along with fact checking and research...

I've been inspired by the music of Dick's Picks Vol. 22 and the remastered Anthem of the Sun (the finest 1968 Pigpen on the market imho) to finish writing the corrected version of my solemn statement, given on this 4th of July, 2008.

This is my sincere redeclaration of independence...
(and final announcement of it, posted here in honor of Pigpen; one last time)
